Oklahoma City Barons News Release

Brad Thiessen stopped 22 shots in net to lead the Adirondack Flames to a 3-1 win over the Oklahoma City Barons Saturday night in front of 4,122 in attendance at the Cox Convention Center.

Despite Oklahoma City having six power play chances in the game, Thiessen allowed only a Curtis Hamilton power play goal in the second period, making several key saves in the final period.

Max Reinhart netted the Flames' game-winning goal, taking a long pass from Mark Cundari near the Oklahoma City blue line and skating in alone on a breakaway before sending a shot through the legs of Barons goalie Laurent Brossoit.

Adirondack's Michael Ferland scored the game's first goal at 8:22 of the opening period. After Brossoit made a kick save on Sena Acolatse's shot from in close, Ferland grabbed a bounding puck near the left side of the Barons crease and whipped a shot past the OKC net minder for a 1-0 Flames lead. Ferland's goal came on the power play with the Barons' Kellen Jones serving a minor for high-sticking.

Oklahoma City tied the game on Hamilton's goal at 11:24 of the first. With Adirondack's Ben Hanowski in the penalty box for a hooking infraction, Kellen Jones sent a pass from behind the Flames net to the point, where Hamilton ripped a slap shot that sailed past Thiessen.

After Reinhart's goal gave the Flames a 2-1 lead in the second period, Garnet Hathaway added an empty-netter at 19:43 of the third.

The win was Adirondack's first road victory in five games dating back to Dec. 27.

Oklahoma City was 1-for-6 on the power play for the game and 2-for-13 in the two-game weekend series against Adirondack.

Oklahoma City next faces the Texas Stars in a 7 p.m. start on Tuesday, Feb. 24 at the Cox Convention Center.
