Binghamton Senators News Release
SYRACUSE, NY - The Binghamton Senators failed to make it three wins in a row as they fell 5-3 to their host Syracuse Crunch.
Carter Camper opened the night's scoring with his 9th goal of the season 3:46 into the first period. Shane Prince and Cole Schneider helped Camper finish a tic-tac-toe sequence over the glove hand of Crunch's goaltender Kristers Gudlevskis. Syracuse answered a little over three minutes later when Jake Dotchin notched his 4th goal of the year off assists from Mike Angelidis and Henri Ikonen. Carter Ashton made it a 2-1 game with 15 seconds remaining in the first with assists from Yanni Gourde and Slater Koekkoek. The Crunch led the B-Sens 11-7 in shots heading into the first intermission.
Just 1:32 in to the second period, Joel Vermin pushed the score to 3-1 with his 9th goal of the season. Garrett Thompson answered back for the B-Sens at the 8:24 mark after Max McCormick fought off a Crunch double team and forced the puck into the slot. Binghamton skated to the dressing room trailing 3-2.
Angelidis got his second point on the night with a power-play goal 7:53 into the final period, but Colin Greening brought it back to a one-goal game 14:48 with a shorthanded backhanded shot set up by Patrick Mullen. With B-Sens' Peter Mannino on the bench in favor of an extra skater, Gourde pushed the game out of reach with an empty-net tally at the 19:37 mark.
Gudlevskis finished the night with 24 saves on 27 shots while Mannino saved 36 shots falling to 3-7-2 for the year.
The B-Sens will be back on home ice Friday, February 27, to faceoff against the Hershey Bears.
