St. John's IceCaps News Release
The St. John's IceCaps were edged 3-2 by the Manchester Monarchs in overtime Saturday night at Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, N.H.
Colin Miller's second goal of the game, with 30 seconds left in the extra frame, sank the IceCaps who gain a point in the loss. St. John's shaded Manchester 4-3 in overtime Friday night.
Eric O'Dell had a goal and an assist for the IceCaps, while rookie Scott Kosmachuk had the other St. John's goal, his 10th of the campaign.
O'Dell opened scoring at 3:37 of the first period, on the powerplay, firing a wrist shot from inside the left face-off circle past Monarchs netminder Patrick Bartosak. John Albert picked up the assist. Kosmachuk made it 2-0 IceCaps as he made a nifty deke and flipped the puck past a sprawling Bartosak at 10:04 of the second. JC Lipon and O'Dell were awarded assists.
Manchester got on the board at 11:56 of the middle stanza when David Van der Gulik fired a one-timer from the right face-off circle past Connor Hellebuyck. Miller tied the game on the powerplay at 10:10 of the third as his slapper from the blueline beat a screened Hellebuyck.
