Austin FC News Release
Austin, Texas - Austin FC has announced that U.S. Soccer has called up goalkeeper Brady Scott for the U.S. Men's National Team (USMNT) camp combining U-23 players and senior players.
Scott will be one of 26 U-23 players and 12 senior players arriving at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida for the camp, which begins Jan. 9. According to U.S. Soccer, a number of U-23 players will be named to the USMNT roster for a planned match at the end of January.
"We are pleased to see Brady called up to the USMNT U-23 roster," commented Josh Wolff, Austin FC Head Coach. "Brady will add to his international experience before he joins up with our roster in Austin, and we wish him well."
"This is an important year for our National Team programs, and we are looking to maximize every possible opportunity," said USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter in the release. "For the senior team players, this is an opportunity to continue to develop as a group and build on the foundation of a busy and challenging year. Being alongside our U-23 team gives that group a chance to prepare for Olympic qualifying, while further integrating into our culture and game model."
Scott will join fellow U-23 goalkeepers JT Marcinkowski and David Ochoa in the camp, having the opportunity to train with senior U.S. goalkeepers Sean Johnson and Matt Turner.
Scott has distinguished himself as a U.S. youth national team goalkeeper, featuring on the team that won the 2019 Concacaf U20 Championship. Scott recorded three shutouts in the tournament, two in the qualifying stage and one in the final against Mexico to clinch the title. Scott's performance earned him a spot on the tournament's Best XI Team, and also earned the Golden Glove award as its best goalkeeper at the Concacaf U-20 Championship.
Scott went on to share goalkeeping duties with Ochoa in the U.S. team's run to the quarterfinals of the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland, including starting in the team's win over France in the Round of 16.
