The next night, the Lynx ran into a little more trouble against the Everblades. Despite the efforts of goaltender Bobby Goepfert, the Lynx fell down early 1-0 after the 1st period. The week that was:

Tuesday, February 6, Wheeling Nailers 2 @ Augusta Lynx 3

With a 3-2 win over the Wheeling Nailers on Wedneday night in Augusta, the Lynx moved into a 4th place tie with the Florida Everblades in the South Division standings, with the next three games coming up against the Everblades in Florida. If there was any thought of the Lynx looking ahead to this weekend, it was quickly erased in the 1st period as the Lynx jumped out to a 2-0 lead. #11 Matt Christie started the scoring with his 8th goal of the season, which was a tip-in on the backdoor after a great pass from #10 Garrett Winder and help from #16 Chase Watson. The Lynx increased the lead to 2-0, as #20 Matt Auffrey chipped home a puck past Nailers goaltender Curtis Darling with assists to #21 Bobby Bolt and #9 Louis Goulet. Lynx goaltender #1 Gerald Coleman was perfect in the period stopping all 11 shots. The 2nd period saw Wheeling get on the board as they took advantage of a Lynx turnover behind their own goal that saw Joe Guenther get the puck in front and put it past a surprised Coleman to make it 2-1. However, the turning point in the game came late in the 2nd period as #3 Brian Yandle hammered home is first goal as an Augusta Lynx with only :08 seconds remaining to make it 3-1 going into the lockerroom. #25 Adrian Veideman and #7 James Brannigan earned assists on the goal. In the 3rd period the Lynx pounded the Nailers net with 22 shots on goal, but couldn't get anything else behind Darling. A late goal from Wheeling's Matt Byrnes made it 3-2, but that was a close as the Nailers would get. The Lynx outshot Wheeling 55-23 in the game.

Friday, February 8, Augusta Lynx 5 @ Florida Everblades 2

The Augusta Lynx used three goals in the 3rd period to propel them to a 5-2 win over the Florida Everblades in the first of a three-game road swing in Florida. The two teams were tied in wins and in the standings heading into Friday's game, but two goals from #21 Bobby Bolt and goals from #11 Matt Christie, #20 Matt Auffrey, and #12 Ryan Dingle, along with 34 saves from #30 Bobby Goepfert drove the Lynx to victory. The Lynx controlled most of the 1st period, outshooting the Everblades 14-9, however it would be the Everblades who struck first with a late goal from Brad Brown. The Lynx answered back in the 2nd period with a penalty shot goal from Auffrey, who went glove side on goalie David Shantz. The Everblades struck back on the power play with a goal from Brandon Roach from the point, after the Lynx had killed off a two and a half minute 5 on 3. The Lynx evened the score on a power play of their own as Bobby Bolt smashed home a back-door pass from #9 Louis Goulet and #16 Chase Watson to tie the game at 2-2 heading into the 3rd period. The 3rd period was all Lynx as Ryan Dingle and Bobby Bolt scored on consecutive breakaways to make it 4-2. The team may have been inspired with Goulet's first fight of the year. Dingle's goal came on a great pass from #17 Jeremy Schenderling and Watson, and Bolt's was a turnover by the Everblades at their own blueline. The Lynx put the game on ice with a 2 on 1 goal from Matt Christie who tipped home a rebound drive from #10 Garrett Winder and help from #5 Ken Scuderi. The rest of the way out it was Bobby Goepfert's show as the goaltender made several stops throughout the game to keep the Lynx in it.

Saturday, February 9, Augusta Lynx 1 @ Florida Everblades 4

Even strength, the Augusta Lynx are a very solid team capable of playing with anyone in the ECHL. However, on Saturday night, the Lynx had to kill 11 penalties which ultimately was the difference in a 4-1 win for the Florida Everblades, who score three out of their four goals on the power play. The game got off to a rocky start for the Lynx who were bombarded by Everblades shots in the 1st period. If it was for the spectacular goaltending of #30 Bobby Goepfert, the Lynx would have been out of it from the start. However, Goepfert held strong and stopped 17 of 18 shots in the 1st period alone. The lone goal was scored by Derek Damon on the power play, who beat Goepfert in close with a nice shot over the glove. The 2nd period saw more offense from the Everblades. The lone even strength goal of the night was scored by Jarret Lukin who snapped one past Goepfert's glove to make it 2-0. The Everblades made it 3-0 halfway through the game on their 33rd shot on goal as #2 Brandon Roach blasted a shot from the point that got behind a laid out Goepfert, who appeared to be tripped from behind on the play. Despite the objections from the Lynx, the goal stood for Florida and Bob Ferguson tried to change to momentum with a switch in goal, putting in Gerald Coleman even though Goepfert was outstanding through half the game. The Lynx responded on a 5 on 3 power play as #16 Chase Watson banged home a loose puck with help from #5 Ken Scuderi and #11 Matt Christie. However, the Blades came right back, again on the power play with a goal from Preston Callander. The Lynx had plenty of chances in the 3rd period, but hit two goal posts and had numerous back door, open net chances that just found a way to stay out on this night. #18 Igor Pohanka was awarded a penalty shot late in the game, but his bid was denied by Justin Peters.
