It's the eighth of nine matchups between both teams this season. Both teams previously met on Jan. 20 at Stockton Arena with the Thunder winning 1-0 behind goaltender Tim Boron's 50-save shutout. The Thunder is 2-5-0 in the season series and is 4-13-1 lifetime against Las Vegas.

Friday's game between the Thunder and Alaska Aces marks the start of a back-to-back series and the ninth of 10 meetings between both teams this season. Following Saturday's contest, both teams are finished with the head-to-head matchup for the regular season. The Thunder is 5-3-0 in the season series and needs to avoid one more regulation loss to guarantee its first winning record against the Aces for a regular season series. WHAT THEY'RE SAYING

(courtesy of The Record)

"I would say everything would be business as usual. They've expressed to me they are happy with the situation and the way their players have progressed."

- Head Coach Chris Cichocki on the status of the NHL-affiliate Edmonton Oilers, who were sold last week to Daryl Katz for $200 million (pending league approval)

"Geoff is a physical presence out there, and that line has really given us a good offensive jolt. This is a good opportunity for Geoff because I hadn't really given him the opportunity to play on a more offensive line. I've counted on him a lot to help stop the other team's top offensive line."

- Cichocki on the progress of second-round draftee and Oilers prospect Geoff Paukovich

"At this level you always know there will be changes, and you learn to adjust. I think this is a good line because the three of us have very different styles."

- Paukovich on his new linemates Andy Contois and Fredrik Johansson
