At 10:41, the Cyclones scored their first-of-three power play goals in the game when Travis Fuller beat Morgan Cey from point blank range. At 12:53, with Sea Wolves goaltender Ryan Munce coming out to play the puck, Chad Starling's dump-in from the neutral zone took a kooky bounce off the boards and found the vacant net at 12:53. The Sea Wolves would get on the board at 15:26, when Chris Cava fed a cross-ice pass to Jason Tejchma, who put it over Cincinnati goalie Cedrick Desjardins' glove for his 18th goal of the season.
The Cyclones restored their four-goal lead when Matt Syroczynski popped in the rebound of Desharnais' shot on the power play at 2:05 of the third period to give Cincinnati a 5-1 lead. Just 1:50 later, Chris Cava fed the puck in front of the net to a waiting Lance Monych, who tucked it through Desjardins' legs for his 21st of the season. Mississippi would cut the lead to two when Mike Hartwick scored his second goal in as many games on a slap shot from the top of the left wing circle at 6:06. After a scoreless first period, Couch got the Sea Wolves on the board with a power-play goal when his shot from the left point fluttered through the air after hitting a bad patch of ice and fooled Dayton goalie Rejean Beauchemin at 5:02 of the second period.
Stan Lascek gave the Sea Wolves a 2-0 lead early in the third period when he fired a wrist shot from the right wing that beat Beauchemin on the stick side at 4:05. Saturday, February 9 @ Cincinnati, 1-4 L
Kyle McAllister got the Mississippi Sea Wolves on the board early in the first period but the Cincinnati Cyclones would score four unanswered goals as they cruised to a 4-1 win over Mississippi at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati on Saturday evening.
Kyle McAllister scored his 9th goal of the season when he broke down two-on-one on the left wing with Michael Couch on his right, Couch floated a pass to McAllister that he fired on net and it trickled past Cincinnati goalie Cedrick Desjardins to give Mississippi a 1-0 lead at 7:01 of the first period.
Mississippi would hang on to the lead until Cincinnati's James Sixsmith came down on a breakaway and fired at Sea Wolves' goalie Ryan Munce. Munce made the initial save, but Sixsmith batted home the rebound to knot the game at one-apiece at 17:12 of the second period.
Jason Deitsch would score his first goal of the contest on the power play just 1:41 into the third period when David Desharnais fed a waiting Deitsch on the doorstep for a tap-in that gave Cincinnati a 2-1 lead. At 10:04 of the third, Barret Ehgoetz fed Cory Urquhart at the top of the slot, and Urquhart's shot hit the goalpost and went into the net for a 3-1 Cyclones lead. Deitsch would round out the scoring, breaking in on net from the right wing at tucking the puck past Munce on the stick side at 17:42.
Ryan Munce made 24 saves to earn the loss, and Mississippi was 0-for-4 on the power play.
