Charlotte Checkers News Release
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -The Charlotte Checkers will draw their three-millionth fan on Tuesday night as the team continues to break attendance records.
The Checkers are currently less than 200 fans away from reaching the three million mark. The team has announced that the special fan that is designated as the three-millionth will be honored in a special in-game ceremony Tuesday and will be inducted into the Charlotte Hockey Hall of Fame presented by American Airlines later this season. During the induction ceremony, the three-millionth fan will represent all of the great fans that have supported Charlotte hockey throughout the years.
This past weekend was also a tremendous achievement for the Charlotte Checkers as the team packed thousands of fans into St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena. During the game against Pensacola on Saturday night, the Checkers drew 11,246 fans breaking their old attendance mark of 11,237 which had been set one year previously on Feb. 10 against Texas. The following night, Charlotte held its second annual "Pink in the Rink" game and 6,254 fans came out in support.
The Checkers began their 15th season of play as a member of the ECHL. The next home game takes place on Feb. 12 against the Wheeling Nailers. In the team's 14-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 10 times including three consecutive playoff appearances to date. The Checkers are in their third season of play at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena. Season tickets are on sale now with full-season packages starting at just $175.
