Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
The Pacific Coast League announced on Monday that Storm Chasers infielder Humberto Arteaga has been honored as the circuit's Player of the Week for the time period between May 21-27. Arteaga is the first player to earn a weekly honor from the Pacific Coast League this season.
Arteaga in seven games posted a .615 average (16-26), adding six runs, two doubles, one triple, one homer and five RBI. That stretch includes multi-hit efforts in six of those seven contests. Since May 21, no hitter in Major League Baseball or Minor League Baseball has accumulated a higher batting average or recorded more hits.
During that hot stretch, Arteaga has raised his batting average 75 points from .236 to its current high of .311. Overall in 39 contests this season he owns a .311 average (41-132) with 15 runs, six doubles, one triple, one homer and 14 RBI.
Arteaga is the first Storm Chasers player to be honor with a weekly award by the Pacific Coast League this season. Luke Farrell (June 19-25) and Jonathan Dziedzic (April 6-16) each earned Pitcher of the Week honors in 2017, while infielder Hunter Dozier (July 4-10) was the last Omaha hitter to earn Player of the Week in 2016.
The Storm Chasers face off against the Round Rock Express this afternoon in the fourth game of their five-game set. First pitch is scheduled for 12:05pm CT. Omaha finishes off their nine-game homestand on Tuesday evening with a 6:35 p.m. CT start time.
Tickets for that contest and all remaining Storm Chasers games are still available and can be purchased online at www.omahastormchasers.com/tickets, or by calling the Werner Park Ticket Office at (402) 738-5100.
