The Fresno Tacos (31-22) hung on to defeat the El Paso Chihuahuas (26-27) 2-1 Tuesday morning from Chukchansi Park. This gave Fresno their eighth series win in 13 chances and their fifth of seven at home. The victory improved the Tacos to 6-8 in one-run affairs (6-4 at home) and 3-0 in the fifth-game of a series. Josh James (1-2) earned his first Triple-A win after seven electric innings (season-high). He allowed one run (earned), on six hits, one walk and nine strikeouts.

El Paso drew first blood in the top of the fourth with a single to center by Diego Goris, plating Carlos Asuaje (2-for-4).

The Chihuahuas 1-0 lead vanished in the bottom of the fourth when Jack Mayfield (1-for-2) sliced a two-out double down the left field line, scoring Drew Ferguson. Mayfield knocked in Ferguson again with a sacrifice fly to center, giving the Tacos a 2-1 lead after six frames. Ferguson walked three times in the game, giving him nine in the five-game set.

Kent Emanuel, Buddy Boshers and James Hoyt (save) finished off El Paso after two shutout frames, with Hoyt fanning the final out.

Dillon Overton (1-2) suffered the decision after five and one-third innings. He scattered four hits, two runs (earned), walking four and punching out five.

Fresno heads on the road for a five-game series against the Albuquerque Isotopes starting Wednesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 5:35 PT with pre-game starting at 5:15 PT on milb.streamguys1.com/fresnogrizzlies from Isotopes Park.
