River Cats Take Series Finale over Isotopes

May 29, 2018 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

The Isotopes (28-25) were limited to just one run Tuesday afternoon as the Sacramento River Cats (25-28) took the series finale, 8-1, at Raley Field. Despite the loss, the Isotopes still won their first ever series at Sacramento, taking three of five games in California's Capital.

Yency Almonte started the day on the mound for the Isotopes with 3.0 scoreless innings, but the River Cats ended his shutout bid with five runs in the bottom of the fourth. Almonte completed his outing allowing six runs and nine hits in 4.2 innings and was charged with his third loss of the year.

Albuquerque's lone run came in the fifth inning on Elliot Soto's RBI single to left. Soto and Anthony Phillips were the only Isotopes to record multiple hits in the contest. Phillips had a very productive five-game series in Sacramento, reaching base in 10 of 15 plate appearances with five hits and five walks.

The Isotopes will now head back to Albuquerque to begin a five-game series Wednesday against the Fresno Grizzlies. Southpaw Brett Oberholtzer will get the nod for the Isotopes while the Grizzlies will have right-hander Brock Dykxhoorn on the bump. First pitch from the series opener at Isotopes Park is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.?
