New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release

Metairie, LA - The New Orleans Baby Cakes will host the first-place Memphis Redbirds for a five-game series beginning Wednesday, May 30 at 7 p.m.

The Baby Cakes are holding a diaper drive for the series opener, offering a free ticket to the game for all fans who bring unused, disposable diapers to the box office. Donations will go to the Junior League of New Orleans. Thirsty Thursday, presented by Budweiser and ALT 92.3, returns with 12-oz domestic drafts for just $2 all night. Thursday is also the official dog day for the 'Cakes, presented by Raising Canes, as all fans are invited to bring "Man's Best Friend" to the ballpark each Thursday.

Kids will take over the ballpark on Friday by filling various roles throughout the Shrine, ranging from ushers, to public address announcers, to serving as the Baby Cakes' general manager for the night, with postgame fireworks following the final out.

The 'Cakes will celebrate the New Orleans Tricentennial during Saturday's 6 p.m. contest by wearing special 300th anniversary jerseys which fans can win during an in-game auction with proceeds going to the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a St. Charles Ave. bobble street car, and the second 1,000 fans will receive a Jefferson Convention & Visitor Bureau "Sights of NOLA" card set.

All fans are invited to play catch on the field when gates open at 12 p.m. for Sunday's series finale. The popular 4-for-$44 ticket package provides four game tickets, four hot dogs, four small sodas, a souvenir program and a $5 coupon to use in the 'Cakes Shop for just $44, and children ages 4-13 are welcome to run the bases on the field after the game.
