December 1, 2018 - ECHL (ECHL)
Allen Americans News Release
Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, defeated the Wichita Thunder by a score of 4-1 on Friday night at Allen Event Center. The victory was the team's first home win of the season.
The Americans got off to fast start Friday night, putting up the first seven shots on goal, however it was Wichita drawing first blood late in the opening frame when former Americans defenseman Travis Brown found twine as he fired home his third goal in the last two games to put Wichita up 1-0 after the first period.
The Americans tied the score in the second period, when forward Adam Miller took a pass from Zach Pochiro and found the back of the net for his third goal of the season. Dante Salituro drew the secondary assist as the Americans cashed in on the power play.
Alex Breton, Greg Chase and Zach Pochiro all scored in the third period to put the game away. Pochiro's goal was an empty net goal with a minute left in the third period.
Americans rookie goalie Kyle Hayton got the win, his first as a professional. He stopped 29 of 30 shots to earn the game's number one star.
The Americans and Thunder resume their two-game set tomorrow night at 7:05 in Allen. It's Teddy Bear Toss Night as well as Nickelodeon Night with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the house. Don't miss the Ice Angels Calendar Release Party tomorrow night at Killarney's Live following the game.
