G Callum Booth Reassigned to Reading

Reading, PA - Reading Royals Head Coach Kirk MacDonald announced Saturday goaltender Callum Booth has been reassigned to Reading from the Charlotte Checkers (AHL) by the Carolina Hurricanes. In five Checkers games this season, Booth has recorded a 3-1-0-0 record, 2.27 goals against average and .907 save percentage. He was selected by the Carolina Hurricanes in the fourth round (93rd overall) of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

MacDonald announced Booth will start Saturday's 7:00 p.m. game at Adirondack.

The Montreal, QC native is in his second professional season. As a rookie, he played four games with Charlotte (2-1-0-0, 1.60 GAA, .941 sv.%) and finished eighth in the ECHL with a 2.41 goals against average for Florida. He won his last five regular season starts for the Everblades to complete the season with a 19-6-1-2 mark and .911 save percentage. Booth appeared in a pair of 2018 Kelly Cup Playoff games (1-1-0 record) for the defending Eastern Conference Champions. He is 21 years old, stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 187 pounds.

Prior to turning pro, Booth competed in the QMJHL from 2013-17. He made the Memorial Cup twice (2015 with Quebec, 2017 with Saint John). In the 2017 QMJHL playoffs, he led netminders with a 16-1-1 record and 1.67 goals against average (.923 save percentage). The Sea Dogs fell in the 2017 Memorial Cup Semifinals to Erie.

Booth spent the first three seasons of his major junior career with Quebec and was traded to Saint John midway through his final amateur season. For his QMJHL career, Booth registered an 81-58-11 record, 2.88 goals against average and .906 save percentage.

The Royals have also released goaltender Tanner Creel from his ECHL contract.
