TONIGHT: The Orlando Solar Bears (9-7-2-0) open up a two-game weekend set with the Norfolk Admirals (11-7-0-1). Since Norfolk re-joined the ECHL in the 2015-16 season, Orlando has posted a 6-2-0-2 record on home ice against the Admirals.
LEBLANC PICKING UP POINTS: Second-year forward Chris LeBlanc has posted seven points (3g-4a) over his last seven games. LeBlanc most recently netted two goals, including the game-winner, in Orlando's 6-5 overtime victory last Saturday vs. Newfoundland. LeBlanc posted four points (2g-2a) in seven games against Norfolk last season.
WAR OF ATTRITION: Both the Solar Bears and Admirals hold identical 7-0-0-0 records when leading after two periods this season. Scoring first will also be critical to success for Orlando, as Norfolk leads the Eastern Conference with 13 first goals.
SCHMALZ TO MAKE DEBUT: Forward Matt Schmalz is expected to make his Solar Bears debut tonight after being acquired earlier this week in a trade with the Wichita Thunder. Schmalz will play on a line with Brent Pedersen and Mitch Hults, fresh off his reassignment from the Syracuse Crunch by the Tampa Bay Lightning.
