
Amarista and Taylor named to MWL Post Season All-Star Team

August 25, 2009 - The Midwest League announced their 2009 Post Season All-Star Roster on Tuesday and Alexi Amarista (2B) and Andrew Taylor (LH reliever) have been named to the team. The field managers of the fourteen MWL member clubs select the team.
Amarista is batting .313 with four home runs and 48 RBI in 117 games for the Kernels. He is among the league leaders in average, doubles (35), triples (10) and hits (140). He was named as the starting second baseman for the Western Division in the 2009 MWL All-Star Game back in June.
Taylor has made 36 relief appearances for the Kernels, with a 3-0 record, 0.94 ERA and is 7-7 in saves. He has struck out 79 in just 48 IP and walked only 17 as the league is batting .160 against him.
Dee Gordon and Kyle Russell of Great Lakes (LAD) were named the league co-MVP and Gordon was chosen as the MWL Prospect of the Year. Doug Dascenzo of Fort Wayne (SD) and Marty Pevey of Peoria (CHI-NL) were named co-Managers of the Year.
