TinCaps Fall to Loons

Midland, MI - The Fort Wayne TinCaps scored the first run of the game Tuesday at Dow Diamond, but the Great Lakes Loons bounced back with nine consecutive runs to blow it open and win, 12-5.

Blake Tekotte doubled twice and Kevin Hansen had a multi-hit game. Tekotte led off the game with a double for the second consecutive night. He went to second on a groundout and scored on a wild pitch uncorked by Josh Walter.

The Loons then went to work against TinCaps RHP Dexter Carter, as Anthony Hatch ripped an RBI triple to tie the score. He came home on a groundout by Kyle Russell.

In the 2nd, Great Lakes sent 11 batters to the plate and exploded for seven runs. Joe Becker tripled into the right-field corner to plate Alfredo Silverio. Later in the inning, Nick Buss and Anthony Hatch drove in runs with base hits and Russell capped the rally with a three-run missile over the right-field wall to make it 9-1.

The TinCaps chipped away at the deficit, coming as close as 9-4, but the Loons scored three runs in the bottom of the 8th, two coming on a round-tripper by Jaime Pedroza to make it 12-4.

Hansen doubled into the right-field corner with two out in the 9th inning to chase Adam Zornes home, finishing the scoring for the night. Carter (1-3) took the loss as he allowed nine runs on eight hits in two innings. Walter (10-4) was credited with the win and RHP Robert Boothe grabbed his second save of the year as he handled the final three innings.

The TinCaps fell to 86-42 for the season, 41-17 in the second half. Great Lakes improved to 73-55 on the year, 33-25 for the half.

Fort Wayne and the Loons (Class-A Los Angeles Dodgers) continue the four-game series Wednesday at Dow Diamond at 7:05pm. Fort Wayne RHP Erik Davis (13-6) is the starting pitcher opposite Great Lakes RHP Bobby Blevins (9-9).
