West Michigan Whitecaps News Release

Due to a change in Milt Wilcox's schedule, he will not be able to attend Friday's salute to the 1984 Detroit Tigers. Former Tigers pitcher and Grand Rapids native Dave Rozema will join Willie Hernandez and Dan Petry for the Whitecaps' final Wendy's Tiger Friday during West Michigan's 7:00 p.m. home game against the Fort Wayne TinCaps.

A 10-year Major League veteran, Rozema spent eight seasons with the Tigers from 1977 to 1984 before finishing up his career with the Texas Rangers. Over the course of this career, Rozema went 60-53 with a 3.47 ERA and 448 strikeouts in 1106 innings pitched. His most notable season came during his rookie campaign in 1977. That year he went 15-7 with a 3.09 ERA and 92 strikeouts on his way to finishing fourth in the American League Rookie of the Year voting.

The first 1,000 fans will receive a Tigers 1984 World Series championship hat. Hernandez, Petry and Rozema will be available to sign autographs from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Gates open at 5:45 p.m.

The Whitecaps' next homestand runs from Friday, August 28 through Monday, August 31.
