Kalamazoo Native Earns the K-Wings Their First Weekly Award of the Season
Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings of the United Hockey League announce that goaltender Chad Alban has been selected as the UHL's Sher-Wood Hockey Goaltender of the Week for the period ending October 26th.
Alban started the season in grand fashion by recording the UHL's first shutout of the year last Friday (10/24) by stopping all 16 shots he faced in a 4-0 victory over Missouri.
Chad continued his goaltending brilliance the following night (10/25) in Fort Wayne, as the Kalamazoo native made 29 saves en route to a 4-3 shootout victory over the Komets.
For the week, Alban went 2-0-0 in his two appearances. The 27 year old netminder was solid between the pipes as he collected 45 saves, recorded a goals against average of 1.50, and earned a save percentage of .938
The Sher-Wood Goaltender of the Week Award is the third earned by Alban in his two years with the K-Wings.
Alban and the K-Wings will put their undefeated record to the test this week with two games. The K-Wings will conclude their three game road swing Friday night, October 31st as they play the Port Huron Beacons. K-Wing fans can tune into the K-Wings Radio Network (WLKM 95.9, WQSN 1660 AM, and WRCC 1400 AM) starting at 6:50 pm for Countdown to Face-Off with the "Voice of the K-Wings" Mike Modugno.

The first opportunity for fans to see the K-Wings at home in the regular season will be this Saturday, November 1st as the K-Wings host their arch rivals the Fort Wayne Komets at 7:30 pm.
Before the game, Stadium Management Company along with special guests will unveil "A Lasting Wings Tradition". This exhibit will serve as a tribute to the rich tradition that the Wings Stadium Complex has had in southwest Michigan. Photo collages delineating the chronological history of the Wings Stadium Complex and the Kalamazoo Wings will be displayed throughout the main concourse of Wings Stadium. All fans entering Wings Stadium on November 1st will also receive a special Anniversary-themed Magnetic Game Schedule courtesy of Meijer.
Fans are encouraged to stay after the game as the entire K-Wings team will be signing autographs at the Centennial Wireless Autograph zone, and Wings Stadium, along with Cool 101 FM will be hosting the "30th Anniversary Retro Fest 70's Dance" in The Annex. Any fan that purchases a ticket to the K-Wings game will be permitted into the dance FREE. Individuals that would like to attend only the dance may purchase a 30th Anniversary Retro Fest ticket for $10. Also after the game, the band 6FP will play, as fans will have the opportunity to partake in a FREE public skating session (skate rental not included) within Wings Stadium.
