Agozzino's Overtime Winner Lifts Rampage over Condors

BAKERSFIELD - The San Antonio Rampage (24-25-8-0) rallied to win 4-3 in overtime against the Bakersfield Condors (24-21-3-2) in front of 4,901 at Rabobank Arena. San Antonio outshot the Condors 36-25 and extended their record to 9-3-5-0 when outshooting opponents. Andrew Agozzino led the team with a goal - the overtime game winner - and two assists, earning the First Star of the Game. Mikko Rantanen tied the game late in the third period, and moved within two goals of tying Connor Brickley's franchise record of 22 goals in a rookie season.

Bakersfield got on the board early in the first period when Rob Klinkhammer bagged his 11th goal of the year. Tyler Pitlick found a trailing Klinkhammer who slipped one past Reto Berra. San Antonio grabbed an equalizer in the 17th minute when Reid Petryk tipped in a blast from Nate Guenin. The Condors answered a couple minutes later when the Bakersfield power-play unit found the back of the net and took a 2-1 lead going into the first intermission.

The second stanza was quiet until a strong forecheck by Joey Hishon forced a Condors turnover in their own zone. Hishon showed his finesse, juking Eetu Laurikainen out of his skates to pick up his 13th of the season. San Antonio had a 5-on-3 man advantage late in the second period, but failed to convert and entered the second intermission tied at two.

Bakersfield took the lead for the third time when Anton Slepyshev sent a pass from his knees to Philip McRae in front of the net. McRae finished the pass for the Condors' third goal of the night, but the Rampage refused to fall. The Silver and Black continued to pepper the net and eventually put one in when Rantanen tipped a rocket from Maxim Noreau in the 17th minute, forcing overtime. Both teams battled back and forth in the fast-paced 3-on-3 hockey until Agozzino landed the game winner. firing a bullet past Kaurikainen on a breakaway with 20 seconds remaining.

Reto Berra finished the night with 22 saves on 25 shots and held the Condors to one power play goal on five opportunities. The Silver and Black had five opportunities with the man advantage but failed to find the back of the net.
