Wolves Welcome Back Copley And Schmaltz
February 28, 2016 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Chicago Wolves News Release
The Chicago Wolves announced Sunday that goaltender Pheonix Copley and defenseman Jordan Schmaltz have been reassigned to the team by St. Louis (NHL).
Copley made his first NHL appearance Saturday as he stopped 5 of 6 shots during a 24-minute, 26-second relief stint at Nashville. The 24-year-old from North Pole, Alaska, has fashioned a 12-12-2 record with a team-leading 2.73 goals-against average and .907 save percentage in 28 games for the Wolves.
Schmaltz rejoins the Wolves after his first in-season stint with the Blues, during which he did not play. The rookie from Verona, Wisconsin, played in every Wolves game prior to his callup after last Sunday's game. Schmaltz shares second on the team in assists (23) and shares fifth in points (26).
As part of the transaction cluster, goaltender Anders Nilsson was reassigned to St. Louis. The 25-year-old from Lulea, Sweden, has spent most of this season with Edmonton, where he posted a 10-12-2 record, 3.14 goals-against average and .901 save percentage. He was acquired by the Blues on Saturday and sent several hours on Chicago's roster before being recalled on loan by St. Louis.
The Wolves wrap up their three-in-three weekend with a 3 p.m. game today at Grand Rapids. The team returns to Allstate Arena on Sunday, March 6, to face Milwaukee. To find the best deals on group tickets, visit ChicagoWolves.com or call 1-800-THE-WOLVES.
