Louisiana IceGators News Release
Lafayette, LA â The American Hockey League's Houston Aeros have assigned defenseman Kevin Mitchell to the ECHL's Louisiana IceGators, the teams announced Thursday. Mitchell is expected to be available for Friday's game in Mississippi, which kicks off the IceGators' first three-in-three set this season.
The 23-year-old Mitchell is in his third pro season, and he was named an ECHL All-Star in each of his first two campaigns with Louisiana. Last season, Mitchell was elected to start in the All-Star Game, but missed the contest due to a lengthy call-up to the AHL. Mitchell posted 34 points (5g, 29a) in 30 games with Louisiana, and also two assists in six post-season contests. He spent time in the AHL with both Bridgeport and Cleveland, accumulating 12 points (3g, 9a) in 42 games. Mitchell, a 5-foot-11, 200-pound native of Bronx, N.Y., has played two games with the Aeros this season without recording a point. Mitchell attended camp with the NHL's Minnesota Wild in September. He has career totals of 88 points (15g, 73a) in 155 pro games. His ECHL numbers are also outstanding, with 73 points (12g, 61a) in 93 contests.
The IceGators play seven home games in 22 days starting this Sunday, Military Appreciation Night, at 4:05 p.m. against Columbus. Anyone showing valid military identification, active or retired, will receive a $2 discount off tickets at the Cajundome box office. The IceGators are also offering "civilian" discounts, as anyone bringing in an American flag to the box office will also get $2 off tickets.
Individual tickets for all games, starting at just $10 for adults and $9 for kids (ages 2-12 in any level), are now on sale at the Cajundome Box Office and Ticketmaster outlets. Full season ticket packages, half season plans and Ice Packs are still on sale and can be purchased by calling (337) 234-4423. Season ticketholders get great benefits like the concession item of the game and merchandise discounts. Full season packages start at just $288, while children ages 4-12 can have season tickets for only $225 in any level, including rink side, with an adult purchase.
