BILOXI, Miss. – The Mississippi Sea Wolves Hockey Organization will host its 2nd Annual "Faceoff Against Kids Cancer" benefiting Caps For Kids and Candlelighters for Childhood Cancer of the Gulf Coast on Saturday, January 17, 2004, when they take on the Pensacola Ice Pilots.

"We are extremely proud to host this very unique benefit," said Bo McMurphy, Sea Wolves President. "The program includes several parties culminating in a post game jersey auction, but the most rewarding aspect is the way it genuinely touches the lives of the children, their families and the players."

Caps For Kids is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing headwear signed by athletes, entertainers and other notable personalities to children with cancer who lose their hair from chemotherapy. Candlelighters for Childhood Cancer of the Gulf Coast is a support group dedicated to the financial, emotional, and educational support of families of children with cancer.

Debbie Dahl, Director of Candlelighters for Childhood Cancer of the Gulf Coast expressed her sincerest appreciation to the Mississippi Sea Wolves for their invaluable contribution of "caring enough to make a difference in the lives of our special children with cancer. As was evident last year, the partnership between players and children created a lifelong bond. The Sea Wolves gifts of generosity, time and support help us as we serve the families of Candlelighters. Once again we are proud to join in this winning partnership with this great team."

"Faceoff Against Kids Cancer" has proven to be much more than a hockey fundraiser. There are 21 children that will be matched with their own Sea Wolves hockey player for a significant portion of the season. The first event is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. tonight at the Grand Casino Biloxi Arcade.

According to Lauren Clement, Caps For Kids Director of Operations, last year's initiatives not only raised a significant amount of money for both organizations it also allowed 21 children diagnosed with cancer an opportunity to become intimately involved with their local team heroes.
