
Blades Upended by Ice Dogs 6-4

LONG BEACH, CA - The Florida Everblades (5-2-2) were defeated by the Long Beach Ice Dogs (3-4-1) 6-4 at the Long Beach Arena in front of 1,137 on Wednesday Night. Long Beach forward John McNabb notched two thir period goals to give Long Beach the victory. The Blades maintain their hold on first place in the ECHL's Southern Division despite the loss.
The Everblades got on the board first when defenseman Matt Pagnutti received a pass from forward Chad LaRose in the slot and lifted it into the top corner to give the Blades a 1-0 lead. Florida then took a 2-0 lead after ECHL leading scorer Keith Anderson redirected a Brian McCulough shot past Ice Dogs netminer T.J. Aceti at the 8:41 mark of the period. Long Beach then came back and made it 2-1 on the power play after forward Eric LaPlante rifled a shot over the glove of goaltender Daniel Boisclair.
In the second period, the Ice Dogs tied the game after forward Eric LaPlante poked in a rebound. Florida then took a 3-2 lead when rookie forward Gray Shaneberger picked up the puck off of the faceoff and ripped a shot into the top corner at the 10:18 mark. The Blades then took a 4-2 lead after Keith Anderson picked up a rebound off of a Matt Pagnutti point shot and put it into an open net for his second goal of the game. The Ice Dogs then inched back in the game and made it 4-3 after forward Kryzstof Wieckowski tipped in a point shot at the 18:52 mark.
In the third period, the Everblades gave up a quick goal off the stick of Kryzstof Wieckowskiat the 7:08 mark to tie the game at 4-4. Long Beach then took a 5-4 lead on a breakaway goal from John McNabb. McNabb later added a shorthanded empty net goal to seal the Ice Dogs 6-4 win. Florida goaltender Daniel Boisclair (1-1-0) stopped 38 of 43 shots he faced while Long Beach netminder TJ Aceti (2-3-0) stopped 34 of 38 shots he faced.
The Everblades were 1 for 8 on the power play while the Ice Dogs were 2 for 7. Florida travels to San Diego to take on the Gulls at 10:35 PM EST on Friday and Saturday night.
