Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Milwaukee, WI- Milwaukee Admirals defenseman Alexander Sulzer sent the game into overtime with just 11 seconds left in regulation and Drew MacIntyre stopped all four Rampage attempts in the shoot-out as the Admirals downed San Antonio 2-1 Friday night at the Bradley Center.

The game started out slow, as the only action the scoreboard saw was 24 minutes in penalties including a fight between Triston Grant and Adam Keefe. The energy from the first would only set the stage for the game as both teams played gritty and dished out hard knocks that the fans eagerly accepted.

San Antonio got on the board early in the second, and it would be the only goal of the game until 11 seconds left to play. At 3:58 of the stanza San Antonio's Chad Kolarik skated into the offensive zone down the leftwing side when he cut wide on an Admirals defenseman and ended up on a 2-0 against netminder Drew MacIntyre. Alone on side of Kolarik was forward Enver Lisin who received a quick one timer and shoved it past MacIntyre's glove and off the post to give the Rampage a 1-0 lead.

Both teams started the third with hard gritty play, but to nobody's advantage. It wasn't until 11 seconds left that the Admirals were able to get on the board to tie the game with an extra skater on the ice. Cal O'Reilly stood behind the net with the puck and fired a pass out to Cody Franson, who blasted a slapshot from the high slot. With several players clustered in front of the net, defenseman Alexander Sulzer was able to locate the puck and squeeze it past goaltender Josh Tordjman. It was Sulzer's first goal of the season.

Neither team was able to pull out a goal in overtime so it was the shootout that would win the game for the Ads with goals from Mike Santorelli and Andreas Thuresson, while MacIntyre turned aside all four Rampage shooters to earn his third consecutive win.

O'Reilly's assist on Sulzer's goal extended his point scoring streak to eight games, while Sulzer pushed his own point-streak to six games. MacIntyre finished the evening with 23 saves, while his counter-part Tjordman took the loss despite stopping 26 of 27 Milwaukee shots.

The Admirals are off for the remainder of the weekend and hit the ice for their next game on Wednesday, November 12th at Rockford. The team's next home game is Saturday, November 15th when they host the Rockford IceHogs in a 1:00 pm matinee.
