Iowa Chops News Release

Thanks to five unanswered goals the Iowa Chops defeated the Quad City Flames, 6-2 on Friday night at the iWireless Center in Moline, Illinois.

The Chops got off on the right foot, scoring the first goal of the game thanks to Andrew Ebbett's 6th goal of the season, as he found himself alone in front after some hard work from linemates Troy Bodie and Drew Miller. The Flames answered with less than a minute remaining in the 1st period with a goal from the high slot from Jamie Lundmark.

The Flames took their only lead of the night thanks to an early power play goal in the 2nd period off the stick of Carson Germyn, who found himself open down low to beat Chops goaltender JP Levasseur. However, that would be all Levasseur would allow the rest of the game, as the goaltender from Victoriaville, Quebec put together another strong outing, making a total of 25 saves on 27 shots for the game.

The Chops tied the game on the power play at 2-2, thanks to a rocket one-timer from Bobby Ryan, who smashed home a pass from Joakim Lindstrom and more help from Adrian Veideman. The Chops wasted little time in keeping the momentum going as first star of the game Josh Green, intercepted a loose puck while killing a penalty and raced in on a breakaway, slipping a shot between the legs of Flames goaltender Matt Keethley to give the Chops a 3-2 lead.

The 3rd period was all Chops thanks to goals from Joakim Lindstrom on the power play with help from Ryan and Brian Salcido and even strength goal from Drew Miller and captain Ajay Baines to put the game out of reach at 6-2 as Levasseur and the team defense did the rest.

Troy Bodie added two assists on the night and joined Ebbett, Miller, Ryan and Lindstrom in posting multiple-point night's.
