Abbotsford Heat News Release

A road trip to Texas proved to be exactly what the Flames needed on Saturday night. Quad City secured a 5-1 win thanks largely to a trio of power-play tallies. Kyle Greentree, David Van der Gulik and Ryan Wilson scored on the man advantage while Warren Peters and Kris Chucko added even strength tallies.

Quad City took a 1-0 lead by scoring the only goal of the opening frame. Kyle Greentree converted on the power play following a cross-ice feed from defenseman Anders Eriksson. Carsen Germyn earned the secondary assist on the tally.

David Van der Gulik stretched the lead to 2-0 when he scored on the power play at 15:27 of the middle frame. Van der Gulik tipped home a Jamie Lundmark shot for his third goal of the season. With time dwindling in the second period, Warren Peters netted his sixth goal of the season to give Quad City a three-goal cushion. Peters charged to the net to convert on the rebound from a Carsen Germyn shot. The goal came with just 12 seconds left in the second period and gave Quad City a 3-0 lead.

The Rampage converted on a Flames turnover at 1:15 of the third period to ruin Matt Keetley's bid for a shutout. Jeff Hoggan snapped a shot past the Flames netminder after forcing a turnover. The Hoggan tally briefly energized the Rampage in their comeback bid, but the Flames were able to insure the win with a pair of late goals. Ryan Wilson scored on a power play following a feed from behind the San Antonio net by Adam Cracknell. Kris Chucko followed with his fifth goal of the season on a slapshot from the left wing circle. The Chucko marker set the final at 5-1 in favor of the Flames.

The Flames are back on the ice on for a Sunday evening re-match with San Antonio. The Hayman's Ace Hardware Pre-Game Show begins at 4:35 p.m. on 93.9 FM WYEC.

The Flames are home three times next week with games vs. Peoria on Wednesday and Friday and a match-up with the Grand Rapids Griffins on Saturday. Tickets are available now for all three games at the i wireless Center Box Office, via phone at (563) 326-1111 or on-line at ticketmaster.com.
