The Aces got on the board first with a power play goal late in the opening period. Steve Ward snuck down low and collected a rebound goal at 17:57 to open the scoring. It remained that way until late in the second period. Mike Gabinet scored off a face-off with a shot through traffic from the left point to tie the score. It remained 1-1 deep into the third, until Swanson broke the tie for good. The Aces lost the puck at Idaho's blueline, and the speedy Swanson outraced everyone to the loose puck and beat Gerald Coleman high, left corner fore the deciding goal.

Gerald Coleman (7-6-1) made 21 saves on 23 shots in the loss. Mike Zacharias (6-1-1) earned the win, with 25 saves on 26 shots. The Aces power play went 1-3, while the Steelheads went 0-3. The Aces outshot the Steelheads 26-23 in the game.
