Las Vegas' Ouzas Named ECHL Goaltender of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J- Michael Ouzas of the Las Vegas Wranglers has been named the ECHL Goaltender of the Month for November.

Ouzas was 4-0-1 with one shutout, a 1.36 goals-against average and a .955 save percentage in five appearances for the Wranglers, helping the club to a 7-1-2 record for the month of November. He opened the month making 30 saves in a 4-3 victory over the Utah Grizzlies on Nov. 6. After making 31 saves in a 4-2 win over Victoria on Nov. 11 and 15 saves in 3-1 win against the Salmon Kings on Nov. 12, Ouzas made 42 saves in a 1-0 shutout against Stockton on Nov. 24.

The 25 year old leads the league with a goals against average of 1.72 and a save percentage of .942.

The Hamilton, Ontario native has played in 96 ECHL games for Fresno, Reading and Las Vegas going 43-42-6 with 5 shutouts, a goals-against average of 3.10 and a save percentage of .903. He appeared in one game for Houston of the AHL this season making 13 saves in 31 minutes. Ouzas was named OHL Goaltender of the Year in 2004-05 while playing with the Owen Sound Attack going 24-11-9 with a goals-against average of 2.18 and a save percentage of .926. Ouzas also won the CIS National Title with the University of New Brunswick in 2007-08.

Runners-Up: Marc Cheverie, ‚¬Ë†Cincinnati (6-0-2, 2.59 GAA, .950 save pct.) and Billy Sauer, Gwinnett (4-2-0, 2.00 GAA, .941 save pct.).
