June 26, 2018 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Spokane Chiefs News Release
Spokane, Wash. / Calgary - The Spokane Chiefs' 2018-19 regular season game schedule was announced by the Western Hockey League on Tuesday, including all 34 home games to be played at Spokane Arena, beginning with Bud Light Opening Night & Pre-Game Party versus the Kootenay ICE on Saturday, September 29. The Chiefs will kick off their season on the road at Tri-City on Saturday, September 22.
In total, the Chiefs will play 68 regular season games - 34 home and 34 away - from September 2018 to March 2019. Their schedule is balanced evenly as they will host at least five home games every month from October to February. They will play 10-12 total games in each of those months.
Spokane Arena will host 27 weekend home games, including 11 Fridays, 14 Saturdays and two Sundays. The remainder of the home schedule will take place on Tuesdays (three games) and Wednesdays (four).
The Chiefs will embark on their biennial trip through the East Division from Oct. 12-20, marking their longest stretch of consecutive road games. Their longest home stand will be four games in a row from Jan. 9-19. The annual mid-season holiday break will occur from Dec. 17-27.
In addition to Bud Light Opening Night & Pre-Game Party on Sept. 29, the Chiefs have also tentatively scheduled two other fan favorite promotions. Leinenkugel's HOCKtoberfest will take place on Saturday, Oct. 29 when Spokane hosts the Tri-City Americans for the first time. The annual Teddy Bear Toss presented by The Spokesman-Review Christmas Fund will happen on Saturday, Dec. 8 as the Chiefs take on Kootenay. The Chiefs' complete 2018-19 promotional schedule will be released at a later date.
