
Oil Kings Announce 2018-19 Regular Season Schedule

(Edmonton, AB) - The Edmonton Oil Kings, in conjunction with the Western Hockey League (WHL), announced its 68-game schedule for the 2018-19 WHL season today.
The Oil Kings will open the season with a home-and-home against the Red Deer Rebels on September 21 (Rogers Place) and September 22 (Enmax Centrium). To end the month of September, the Oil Kings will face off against the Calgary Hitmen on September 29 in the first of eight Battle of Alberta matchups throughout the season.
October 5 marks the first of two six-game road trips, where the team will play five of six games against U.S. Division teams. The team will spend the majority of October on the road playing seven of 12 games away from Rogers Place.
In November, the team will begin the month with their second six-game road trip travelling to Saskatchewan facing off against Regina (November 2) and Swift Current (November 3) and then closing the trip with two matchups against the Lethbridge Hurricanes (November 12 and 16).
The 2018 Teddy Bear Toss presented by The Brick will be played on December 8 against the Kamloops Blazers. The Oil Kings will be looking to surpass last year's Teddy Bear Toss record of 14,122 bears collected.
In keeping with holiday traditions, the Oil Kings will play five home games over the holiday break including a four-game homestand from December 30-January 6. The Oil Kings will start the 2019 calendar year with a matinee matchup against the Vancouver Giants on January 1 at Rogers Place.
January marks the busiest month for the team with eight games on home ice, including a four-game homestand at the end of the month. Rogers Place will host its first-ever Battle of Alberta doubleheader on January 19, as the Oil Kings face off against the Hitmen at a special time of 1:30 PM MT followed by the Oilers vs Flames at 8:00 PM MT.
The team will start the month of February on the road with a two-game road trip in Saskatchewan. On February 18, the team will suit up for their second consecutive Family Day game against the Medicine Hat Tigers. One week later, the Oil Kings will play their annual Hockey Hooky game against Swift Current at a special time of 11:00 AM MT on February 26.
The Oil Kings will face Central Division rivals -Calgary Hitmen, Kootenay ICE, Lethbridge Hurricanes, Medicine Hat Tigers and Red Deer Rebels - a total of 33 times with over half of those matchups taking place at Rogers Place.
The Oil Kings will play their final home game against the Calgary Hitmen on March 16 at 2:00 PM MT and close out the 2018-19 schedule on the road as they visit Calgary on March 17.
This season, the Oil Kings will play 74 percent of home games on weekend dates, providing families with even more opportunities to watch great junior hockey.
