Cyclones Receive Two From Cleveland: The Cleveland Monsters, American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets, have assigned goaltender Brad Thiessen and forward Dante Salituro to the Cincinnati Cyclones. A native of Aldergrove, BC, Thiessen has appeared in two games with Cleveland this season, posting an 0-2-0 record along with a 3.10 goals-against average and .900 save percentage. He was one of the top goaltenders for the Cyclones last season, skating in 19 games and posting a 10-4-2-2 record along with a 1.89 GAA and a .934 SV%, while recording one shutout. Thiessen also appeared in 22 games with the Monsters a season ago, posting a 12-4-4 record to go along with a 1.95 GAA and a .929 SV%. He has spent the bulk of his career in the AHL appearing in 225 career games, and posting record of 118-77-11-23 along with a 2.49 GAA and a .910 SV%. In 2011-12, Thiessen appeared in five games for the Pittsburgh Penguins, posting a 3-1-0 record with a 2.45 GAA and a .858 SV% in those contests.

Salituro has appeared in five games for the Monsters this season, accounting for a goal and two penalty minutes. He also racked up 225 minutes in penalties.

Plugging the Lanes: The Cyclones have been very stingy with allowing shots over their last two games, limiting teams to fewer than five shots in three of their last five periods. Cincinnati allowed four in the second period to both Missouri last Saturday and Ft. Wayne on Wednesday, and held the Komets to just three in the third on Wednesday night, as well.

Good First Impression: Recently-acquired forward Shane Walsh dished out a pair of assists in last Friday's 5-1 win over the Indy Fuel; his first game as a Cyclone, and added one more in Saturday's 4-3 shootout win over the Missouri Mavericks. Walsh now has 13 points on the season (5g, 8a), and leads all ECHL rookies with 74 shots on goal.

"O" from the "D": The Cyclones have been getting major offensive contributions from the blue line in recent games, as Cyclones defensemen have accounted for 11 points (4g, 7a) in the last six games. Eric Knodel leads the way with a pair of goals and two assists in that time, while Arvin Atwal is right behind him with three assists.

Disciplined Hockey: The Cyclones enter Friday night as the third-least penalized team in the ECHL, averaging 10.71 minutes in penalties per game, and totaling 225 minutes overall. Forward Brandon McNally leads the team with 50 penalty minutes while rookie defenseman Arvin Atwal is second with 45, which places him second amongst League rookies.

Scoring Machine: Forward Andrew Yogan has been on fire offensively as of late. He has points in five of his last six games, totaling three of goals and four assists in that time. Yogan has points in eight of his last 10 games played as well (7g, 7a), and has failed to reach the scoresheet in just five of his 17 games played this season.
