Allen Americans News Release
Wichita, Kansas - The Allen Americans face the Wichita Thunder for the first time this season, tonight at Intrust Bank Arena at 7:05 PM.
The two clubs will face off for the first time as non-division rivals. Wichita remains in the Central Division, while the Americans made the switch to the Mountain Division this season.
The Thunder are much improved this year under new coach Malcolm Cameron, who has put together a much more skilled team with a lot of speed. Former Americans forward Vincent Arseneau is expected to make his return to the lineup tonight for Wichita. Arseneau has been out with a upper body injury.
"They made a lot of changes this off-season that have paid off for them so far," said Americans Co-Captain Chad Costello. "We know any time we go into that building the crowd will be loud and vocal. It's a good road environment."
Costello leads the ECHL in scoring with 32 points (8 goals & 24 assists). Costello has a 4-game point streak for the Americans and now has points in 13 out of his last 14 games. Spencer Asuchak has tied Greger Hanson with team-high 3-game goal streak. Hanson's streak came earlier in the season. Asuchak is also tied with Hanson for the team lead in goals with 10.
Riley Gill is expected to get the start in net tonight for the Americans. Gill is tied for second in the league in goalie wins with 1o (10-6-0). Gill was named the ECHL Goalie of the Week on Monday.
Puck drop tonight from Intrust Bank Arena is at 7:05 PM. You can watch the game at The Franchise Grill & Bar in Plano, or listen online at www.hot1073fm.com.
