Last Game
The Kalamazoo Wings' Tyler Shattock scored the only goal of the shootout after Dylan Labbe had twice tied the game in regulation for the host Mallards and the Wings claimed a 3-2 shootout victory Wednesday night.
Back-to-Back
This evening's game is the first of two in two nights between the Mallards and Cyclones in Cincinnati.
Dip
The Mallards have gone without a victory in their last two games (0-1-1) and have won one of their last four games (1-2-1).
Shootout
With Wednesday night's defeat the Mallards dropped to 1-2 in the shootout this season. The Mallards did earn one point for Wednesday night's shootout loss.
Central
The Mallards trail the third-place Fort Wayne Komets- who defeated the Cyclones Wednesday night- by three points in the Central Division standings. The Komets have a game in hand on the Mallards.
Breakthrough
Labbe's goal at 16:30 of the first period Wednesday night was the Mallards' first after being shut out by the Walleye in Toledo 3-0 last Saturday. The Mallards went seventy-seven minutes and 29 seconds without scoring between Nolan LaPorte's shorthanded empty netter with 59 seconds remaining in last Friday's 6-1 win over the Beast in Brampton and the first of Labbe's goals Wednesday night.

Over their last five games, the Mallards have scored eight third period goals while allowing only one.

The Mallards next play at home on Wednesday, December 21 against Fort Wayne. Each of the Mallards' last two home games has gone to the shootout. The Mallards edged Indy 4-3 in a shootout on November 25 at the iWireless Center before falling to Kalamazoo Wednesday night.

Labbe Wednesday night scored his first two ECHL goals.

Nolan LaPorte assisted on both of Labbe's goals Wednesday night and has now notched two points three of his last four games (two goals and four assists). LaPorte has produced eight points (two goals and six assists) in his last six games.

Kevin Gibson picked up an assist Wednesday night and has now recorded points (1-3-4) in four straight games.
Warning Sign
By picking up his eleventh assist of the season Wednesday night, Sam Warning moved into a tie with Justin Kovacs for the team lead. Warning also leads the Mallards in points (19).
Impact Player
A lower body injury kept captain Chris Francis out of the Mallards' losses last Thursday at Brampton and last Saturday at Toledo as well as Wednesday night's shootout setback. The Mallards are winless (0-4-1) in the five games Francis has missed this season while they have gone 11-4-1 when he is in the lineup.
Between the Pipes
Adam Vay made 28 saves in Wednesday night's shootout loss. C.J. Motte ranks second in the ECHL in save percentage (.941), ranks fourth in goals against average (2.02) and is tied for fifth in wins (8).
Milestones
Mike Monfredo has recorded 99 career assists. Monfredo ranks sixth in Mallards history in career games played (293). If he dresses for each of the Mallards' next seven games, he will play his three hundredth game for the team on December 30 against Missouri...Chris Francis has scored 99 career goals in 394 career games...Mike Wilson has 198 career regular season assists...Donnie Harris has played 297 career games... Special Teams
The Mallards have gone 0-for-23 on the power play since Francis scored on the man advantage in the first period of the Mallards' 4-2 win in Cincinnati on November 23. The Mallards' streak of 17 straight successful penalty kills ended Wednesday night when the Wings converted their first power play of the game. The Mallards have now survived 20 of their foes' last 21 power plays. The Mallards rank seventeenth in the ECHL on the power play (15.8 percent) and seventh in penalty killing (86.7 percent).
