
Brassart Gives Mallards 4-3 Overtime Win in Cincinnati

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Brady Brassart scored with just 9.7 seconds left in overtime to give the Quad City Mallards (12-8-2) a 4-3 victory over the host Cincinnati Cyclones (9-10-3) Friday night.
Brassart, who picked up an assist earlier in the game, charged off the left wing into the Cyclone goalmouth to sweep the winner past Cincinnati netminder Brad Thiessen in the dying seconds of sudden death. The Cyclones did earn one point for the overtime loss.
The Mallards forced overtime after Pavel Jenys tipped in Andrew Panzarella's centering pass knot the score at three at 3:06 of the third period
The Cyclones had emerged from a roller coaster second period with a 3-2 lead. It was the Mallards who struck first in the second, scoring twice in one minute and 12 seconds to turn a 1-0 deficit into a short-lived 2-1 advantage. Justin Kovacs tied the score at one from close range at 5:07. At 6:19, Nolan LaPorte rifled the second Mallard goal in under the crossbar from the right wing circle. Peter LeBlanc responded for Cincinnati by scoring twice in just under two minutes. His power play tip-in evened the score at 10:58. He walked in on goal alone to snap the deadlock at 12:50.
The Cyclones grabbed the opening goal when Dominic Zombo pounced on a rebound at 17:17 of the first period.
The Mallards and Cyclones meet again tomorrow night in Cincinnati. The Mallards next play at home Wednesday, December 21 against the Fort Wayne Komets. That game and a ll Mallards Wednesday night home games this season face off at the special early start time of 6:35.
