South Carolina Stingrays News Release

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Greenville Swamp Rabbits (11-8-2-0) were able to hold the South Carolina Stingrays (10-9-1) off the scoreboard on Friday night, with goaltender Mackenzie Skapski making 28 saves in a 2-0 shutout performance at the North Charleston Coliseum.

South Carolina goaltender Adam Carlson kept his team in the game the whole way, not allowing a goal until the third period. Carlson finished with 26 saves while allowing just one goal in the loss.

Both Greenville goals were scored by defenseman Desmond Bergin, who got his third and fourth tallies of the season. All four of Bergin's goals on the year have come in the past two contests for the Swamp Rabbits.

Bergin got his first strike at 2:25 of the final period, before adding an empty-net goal at 19:00 to seal the victory for Greenville.

Rays' forward Rob Flick led the team with six shots on net in the contest.

South Carolina did not take a penalty in the game, staying away from the penalty box all night. The Swamp Rabbits committed three penalties in the first period, but the Stingrays were unable to capitalize on any of the power play chances. South Carolina finished 0-for-3 on the man-advantage.

The two teams will battle once more on Saturday night, which will be South Carolina's fifth consecutive contest with Greenville. Start time is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
