Mathieu Aubin Named Reebok ECHL Plus Performer of the Year
April 2, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL's Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that team captain Mathieu Aubin is the recipient of the ECHL's Reebok Plus Performer of the Year award after finishing the season with a plus-minus rating of +25.
Aubin led the Cyclones in scoring and was tied for seventh in the league with 68 points (30g-38a) in 62 games this year. He earned a +12 plus-minus rating in the final month of the season, including a +4 mark on March 3 against Wheeling and on March 16 at Gwinnett. The 25-year-old appeared in his 300th career professional game on December 3, 2011 against Greenville and ranks second on the Cyclones franchise-scoring list - amassing 219 points in 224 games. This past Saturday night, Aubin netted his fifth game-winning goal of the season against Chicago, placing him into a tie for the 2011-12 team lead. With 30 goals scored this season, Aubin tied his own single-season record and sixth-most all time for the franchise.
In addition to his personal accolades, Aubin has helped the Cyclones capture both Kelly Cup Titles in 2008 and 2010. He becomes the second Cyclones player to receive the Reebok ECHL Plus Performer of the Year Award, as Chad Starling earned the honor in 2008.
The Cyclones will return to the ice at U.S. Bank Arena in mid-October as the 2012-13 ECHL season unfolds. Throughout the summer, Cincinnati will once again host the Meijer Concrete Clones Tour, which will begin in June. Details, dates, and times will be announced soon on CyclonesHockey.com. Fans can also get the latest team updates throughout the offseason on Facebook and Twitter (@CincyCyclones).
