Elmira Jackals News Release

Elmira Jackals rookie forward Dustin Gazley won the 2011-2012 ECHL scoring championship, the league announced on Monday.

Gazley registered an ECHL-best 85 points this season while also leading all skaters with 60 assists. The 23-year-old scored 25 goals in 2011-2012 as well. He is just the fifth rookie in the league's 24-year history to post the most points in a season and is just the third in the past 22 seasons. The Jackals are the first team in ECHL history to have a player win the scoring title in three-straight seasons. Tyler Donati notched a league-high 114 points (38g-76a) in 2009-2010 while Justin Donati's 94 points (27g-57a) topped the ECHL in the 2010-2011 campaign. An Elmira skater has won the ECHL scoring crown in three of its five seasons in the league.

A native of Novi, Mich. Gazley was named to the ECHL All-Rookie Team and was selected to the All-ECHL First Team last week.

Prior to skating professionally, Gazley played four seasons at Michigan State University (NCAA, D-I) from 2006-2010, posting 30 goals and 43 assists for 73 points in 153 career games.

Below is a list of the top five scorers in the ECHL in 2011-2012:
