Aces Announce 2012 Playoff Roster

The defending Kelly Cup Champion Alaska Aces submitted their 2012 playoff roster to the league on Monday afternoon, Head Coach Rob Murray announced. Per the new ECHL guidelines, playoff rosters consist of a maximum of 23 Players - a 20-man active roster and a three-man reserve list. The Aces begin their championship defense on Friday, April 13th when they host either Colorado or Stockton in Game One of the Western Conference Semifinals. Tickets are on sale now. On Monday the Aces announced 19 players on their active roster, one on an injury reserve list, and six more players who are eligible, but are currently in the American Hockey League. A maximum of three of those players can be added to the active roster until the beginning of the Conference Finals. The Aces active roster includes nine forwards, eight defensemen, and two goaltenders. Additionally, forward Chris Langkow was listed on the injury reserve list and will be eligible to be activated when his 7-day regular season IR stint expires later this week.

In conjunction with the roster, the Aces announced that they have released forward Blair Yaworski, and placed forward Matt Ambroz on the non-active injury list. Ambroz, who was elbowed in the head on Friday night in Ontario, remains a member of the Aces but is ineligible for the post-season. Yaworski had nine points (5g, 4a) and was a -4 in 26 games with Alaska. He finished the season with a combined 21 points (10g, 11a) in 56 games with Alaska, Utah, and Trenton. The Aces also released defenseman Alex Dzielski, who spent most of the season on IR.

Fourteen of the twenty announced players on the Aces playoff roster were on Alaska's opening-day roster this season, and ten of the players appeared in last season's championship run. Seven of the listed players have never played in a pro playoff game before.

The Aces forwards are: Ryan Cruthers, Wes Goldie, Tim Hall, Zach Harrison, Dan Kissel, Jordan Kremyr, Chris Langkow, Nick Mazzolini, Garry Nunn, Brian Swanson.

The Aces defensemen are: Chad Anderson, Brandon Gentile, Kane Lafranchise, Danny Markowitz, Tyson Marsh, Bryan Miller, Brock Shelgren, Steve Ward.

The Aces goaltenders are: Gerald Coleman and James Reid

The eligible AHL players to return are: Chris Bruton, Adam Courchaine, Scott Howes, Tyler Ruegsegger, David Shields, Russ Sinkewich.

As the top seed in the Western Conference, the Aces receive a first round bye and will host the winner of the opening round series between the #4 Colorado Eagles and the #5 Stockton Thunder.

The Aces will return home to the Sullivan Arena to host Games 1 and 2 of the Conference Semifinals on Friday, April 13th and Saturday, April 14th against either the Colorado Eagles or Stockton Thunder.
