Elmira Jackals News Release
The Elmira Jackals announced on Monday that goaltender Timo Pielmeier has been re-assigned to the club by the NHL's New Jersey Devils from the AHL's Albany Devils. In prior transactions this past weekend, the Jackals released goaltender Joe Palmer while defenseman Josh Godfrey was recalled from the club to its AHL affiliate, the Binghamton Senators.
Pielmeier, a third-year pro, went 17-10-1-2 with the Jackals during the regular season, posting a .910 save percentage and a 2.72 goals-against average. With Albany in 2011-2012, Pielmeier participated in two games, winning his only start, and notched a .938 save percentage and a 2.31 goals-against average. The 22-year-old from Deggendorf, Germany was selected in the third round (83rd overall) by the San Jose Sharks in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
Godfrey, a fourth-year pro, skated in five games with Elmira during the regular season, scoring a goal and adding two assists for three points. The Collingwood, Ontario native has played in 38 games with the B-Sens in 2011-2012, totaling eight points (2g-6a). He was chosen by the Washington Capitals in the second round (34th overall) by the Washington Capitals in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
Palmer did not participate in any games with the Jackals during his stint with the club. He had been signed by Elmira on Mar. 30.
The Eastern Conference regular-season champion Jackals will play the Reading Royals in the best-of-five first round of the 2012 Kelly Cup Playoffs. The Jackals will host the final three games of the series this Friday, Saturday (if necessary), and Monday (if necessary). Tickets for Elmira's home games in the first round are on sale now.
