(Reading, PA)- Drew Naylor allowed two hits in the first inning, but the rest of his outing was nearly perfect. The Phillies' starting pitcher surrendered just one more hit after that, tossing a complete game shutout, as Reading blanked the Sea Dogs, 6-0, at FirstEnergy Stadium.

In the bottom of the third, it was the Phillies who drew first blood. Quintin Berry received a one-out walk, and moved to second on a wild throw by Kyle Weiland. Two pitches later, Mike Spidale singled to right-center, bringing in Berry with the game's first run. Spidale was later erased when he tried to steal second base, but Reading wasn't done scoring just yet. After Domonic Brown walked, Tagg Bozied lined a two-run shot to left-center field, putting the home team ahead, 3-0.

Despite the tough third inning, Weiland settled down, finishing his outing with four and two-thirds innings, three runs, four hits, five walks, and six strikeouts. Unfortunately for Weiland (0-4), he ended up on the down side of the game, as Drew Naylor was spectacular for the Phillies. Naylor (4-4) pitched eight innings of scoreless baseball, allowing three hits and one walk, while striking out six.

Tommy Hottovy took over for Weiland, and blanked Reading in the sixth and seventh innings. However, in the bottom of the eighth, the Phillies added to their lead. Domonic Brown led off the frame with his second triple of the night, and proceeded to score on a single by Matthew Rizzotti. The home team added two more runs in the inning, taking a 6-0 lead after eight.

The Sea Dogs and Phillies will play game three of their four-game series on Wednesday night at 6:35. Casey Kelly (0-3, 4.45) will make his ninth start of the season for Portland, and will be opposed by Reading's Vance Worley (3-2, 4.26).
