Panthers Recall Defenseman Keaton Ellerby

(Rochester, NY)... Florida Panthers General Manager Jacques Martin announced today that defenseman Keaton Ellerby has been recalled from the Rochester Americans (AHL), on an emergency basis.

The recall is Ellerby's second of the season after earning his first National Hockey League promotion last week. Ellerby, 20, has played in 60 games with Rochester this year, registering 16 points (1+15) and 32 penalty minutes.

The Strathmore, Alberta native played in three games for Florida during training camp, before being assigned to the Americans in September.

Ellerby was drafted by Florida with their first choice (10th overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Florida (34-24-8) starts a two-game road trip this evening when they take on the Pittsburgh Penguins. The game can be seen live on FS Florida and heard on SportsTalk 790 The Ticket at 7:30 p.m.

The Amerks remain at home on Friday, March 13th as the Toronto Marlies make their fourth and final stop of the season at The Blue Cross Arena. The 7:35 p.m. contest will be the seventh of eight scheduled meetings between the two teams this season and will be broadcast live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and AHL Live. The game will also be broadcast live over the NHL network. Toronto holds the advantage in the season series with a 5-1-0-0 record this season and have outscored Rochester 24-13 in the previous six encounters. The Amerks are 11-20-1 all-time against the Toronto Maple Leafs' affiliate.
