Monarchs Release Johnston From Tryout

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have released center Denny Johnston from his professional tryout agreement, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.

Johnston, 26, appeared in 10 games with the Monarchs this season collecting a goal and an assist for two points and 32 penalty minutes. In his first professional season, he was plagued with injuries through the first half of the season. The 6-foot-3, 202-pound native of Rosetown, Saskatchewan, played the last three seasons at the University of New Brunswick and collected 47 points (21-26=47) and 117 penalty minutes. Prior to the University of New Brunswick, Johnston spent six seasons in the Western Hockey League playing for the Medicine Hat Tigers, the Prince George Cougars and the Saskatoon Blades. He will join the Monarchs ECHL affiliate, the Ontario Reign.

The Monarchs return to the Verizon Wireless Arena on Friday, January 16 with a 7:30 p.m. contest with the Rochester Americans.
