
River Rats Host "KidPower" Night On Saturday

ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats announced today that Saturday night's game will be KidPower Night presented by MVP Health Care. The 7:00 p.m. match-up against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins will feature an MVP Health Care Thunderstix giveaway and the return of the Concourse Carnival.
The first 4,000 fans through the doors will receive a free pair of Thunderstix courtesy of MVP Health Care and everyone in attendance will be treated to a Carnival-type atmosphere with over a dozen carnival games courtesy of Total Events LLC on the Times Union Center concourse. The Times Union Center doors open at 6:00 p.m. for the carnival entertainment, which will take place prior to the opening face-off and again during each intermission of the hockey game. Carnival activities include Tin Can Alley, Pig Races, Dart Balloon Toss, Milk Bottle Toss, Hole-In-One Golf, Rainbow Golf Roll down, Pick'em Horse Wheel, & other great games.
The event highlights the MVP Health Care: KidPower at School with the River Rats program which visits area schools, libraries and community centers. The assembly program, designed to teach school age children the importance of making healthy lifestyle choices and keeping active through sports, features appearances by team mascot "Rowdy" The Rat, River Rat players and MVP Health Care Mascot, Appleby. The Rats' Kids Zone will showcase Appleby/Rowdy artwork sent in by the children that have taken part in the KidPower at School program. MVP Health Care will also have information available on other KidPower programs and will be raffling off a signed soccer ball from U.S. Women's National Soccer Team star, Abby Wambach. The River Rats will also honor some of the children who submitted their artwork during the game.

Four days after beating Hershey 6-4 at the Giant Center, the River Rats will return to Pennsylvania on Wednesday, January 14th; for a 7:00 pm face off against the Bears. The River Rats next home game takes place on Saturday, January 17th at 7:00 pm against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at the Times Union Center.
