Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, Calif - You've seen them score goals, tally assists and make kick saves. Now watch them sing your favorites, dance at your request and wait your tables as the Bakersfield Condors and the Kern County Shrine Club team up to host the 8th Annual Tip-A-Condor Charity Dinner and Auction.

This year's event, sponsored by KUZZ 107.9, will be held on Tuesday, March 18 at the Buck Owens Crystal Palace. Doors open at 5:00 p.m., with dinner served at 6:30 p.m., and seating is based on a first-come first-serve basis. Condors players will work for tips by serving dinner and drinks to the attendees as well as singing and dancing on stage, for the right price. There will also be live and silent auctions with all proceeds from the night going to the Kern County Shrine Club.

Since the inaugural Tip-A-Condor event in 2001, the Condors have raised more than $77,000 for charity. Last year's event set an all-time Condors record, bringing in over $23,000. All proceeds benefit the Kern County Shrine Club, which in turn helps to support a number of community organizations and the Shriners Children's Hospital.

"Last year, I performed a Britney Spears song on stage," said Condors player Scott Balan. "It was brutal and now it's on youtube. I wish I could report that and get it taken off. But seriously, I'm looking forward to this year's Tip-A-Condor, it's always fun and for a good cause."

Tip-A-Condor tickets went on sale Feb. 8 and after only two weeks nearly half of the tickets have been sold. With a limited number of tickets remaining before the event sales out, be sure to act quick to be a part of this once-a-year extravaganza.

Tickets to attend Tip-A-Condor are available at the Condors front office, open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday- Friday and at the Crystal Palace Box Office, open Tuesday-Saturday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m.-4 p.m. or head to the Kern County Shrine Club's table behind section 107, during Condors home games. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for children, 12-and-under. For more information, contact the Community Relations department of the Bakersfield Condors at 324-PUCK (7825).
