Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
The Hamilton Bulldogs were busy again on the weekend playing in their third three-game weekend of the young season. The team hosted the Philadelphia Phantoms on Friday, traveled to Syracuse on Saturday to take on the Crunch and returned to Hamilton to welcome the visiting Manitoba Moose on Sunday afternoon. The end result of three games in 45-hours was a win and two losses. The Bulldogs dropped a 4-1 contest to the Phantoms on Friday and a 2-1 heartbreaker to the Moose on Sunday, while winning in overtime against Syracuse on Saturday. Chris Higgins scored the overtime winner for his first game-winning goal of the season. Corey Locke also added a goal and now sits tied for first in team scoring with six points. He is also tied for fifth place in AHL rookie scoring.
The Bulldogs will look to bounce back this week as they meet the Cleveland Barons three times. The team will travel to Cleveland Tuesday and return to Hamilton to host the Barons on Friday and Saturday.

Bulldogs Team Notes
Sunday's loss evened Hamilton's home record to 2-2-0-0 on the season ... The Bulldogs have been very disciplined this season as they have recorded the fifth lowest PIM/game average with 23 minutes per game ... Hamilton's loss on Sunday versus the Moose marked the first time this season the Bulldogs lost after scoring the first goal, after starting 4-0-0 in that department ... Hamilton still holds a 4-1-1 record against North division teams, and will look to add to that mark with three games versus Cleveland this week ... Hamilton has managed to outshoot their opponents 87-83 in the third period which is significant because they have been out shot by 31 and 22 in the first and second periods so far this season ... Bulldogs goalies have seen a lot of shots so far this season as Hamilton is averaging the fourth most shots against at 33.56/game ...
Jason Ward - Scored Hamilton's lone goal on Friday versus the Philadelphia Phantoms, which gave him a point his first four games with the Bulldogs this season
Chris Higgins - Scored overtime winner on Saturday in Syracuse and followed that up with an assist on Marc-Andre Thinel's goal on Sunday against Manitoba.
Raitis Ivanans - is currently in seventh place in AHL penalty minutes with 52 in eight games
Marc-Andre Thinel - Is currently on a two-game scoring streak after notching 2 assists in Saturday's victory and scoring the lone goal in Sunday's loss.
Corey Locke - his goal on Saturday brought his point total for the season up to six, which ties him for 5th in AHL rookie scoring.
Yann Danis - after his very solid performance in the win in Syracuse on Saturday, Danis is still eighth in the league in GAA at 1.76, and moved up to fifth in the league in save % at .944 ... Danis is also tied for third in the league with 4 wins

This three-game series will be the first meeting between these division rivals since last season's Calder Cup playoffs...The teams will play each other eight times this season...Hamilton (4-3-2-0) currently sits tied for third in the North Division while Cleveland (3-2-1-1) is alone in fifth place...Cleveland has the worst penalty killing in the AHL at 74.4% and the fifth best power play at 20.0%...Barons forward Marcel Goc leads the AHL in shorthanded goals with three and is tied for eighth in scoring with 11 points...Barons goalie Dimitri Patzold currently sits fourth in AHL goals against average with 1.47 and third in save percentage (.956)...The Bulldogs went 5-4-0-1 last season versus the Barons
URQUHART ASSIGNED TO LONG BEACH:
The Hamilton Bulldogs announced today that forward Cory Urquhart has been assigned to the Long Beach Ice Dogs of the ECHL. Urquhart, a 20-year-old native of Halifax, Nova Scotia appeared in one game for the Bulldogs and went scoreless.
