December 24, 2025 - Waterloo, Iowa - Former Waterloo Black Hawks forward Brendan McMorrow will skate for the United States National Junior Team when the 2026 IIHF World Under-20 Championships begin in Minnesota this weekend.
USA Hockey named the 25 players for the final roster Wednesday. McMorrow is currently a freshman at the University of Denver and skated for the Black Hawks in 2024/25. In addition, Waterloo goaltender Phileas Lachat will represent Switzerland, and former Hawks forward Alex Misiak will play for Slovakia.

December 23, 2025 - Back from Christmas Break
Two days after Christmas, the Black Hawks return to action with a 6:35 p.m. Saturday home game against the Madison Capitols. Waterloo will also be at home on Sunday against the Sioux City Musketeers at 3:05 p.m. Sunday's matchup is the only game on the 2025/26 home schedule with an early start time. The Capitols will likely be reinforced by veteran defenseman John Stout, who helped the U.S. Junior Select Team to a gold medal during the World Junior A Challenge in Quebec. December 13, 2025 - Max Weilandt stopped all 17 Waterloo Black Hawks shots Saturday in the Des Moines Buccaneers' 4-0 shutout at the MidAmerican Energy Company RecPlex in West Des Moines.
While Weilandt gets credit for the shutout, the Buccaneer defense limited Waterloo three shots on goal in the first period, then the same count in the third. Michael Chambre doubled Weilandt's save count while absorbing the loss.
The game was scoreless through one period, but Des Moines recorded two goals separated by just over two minutes in the second,... Full Story
December 12, 2025 - The Waterloo Black Hawks held off Madison for two periods, but the Capitols scored twice in the third, then celebrated a 4-3 home ice victory in overtime Friday.
Gavin Uhlenkamp scored his second goal of the night 16 seconds into the extra period. The Capitols won the initial draw, and Uhlenkamp picked up the puck in his own zone, speeding through neutral ice before lifting a shot from the right circle inside the opposite post.
