Elmira Jackals News Release
ELMIRA, NY - November 14, 2014 - The Elmira Jackals, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and AHL's Rochester Americans, will skate tonight against the Evansville Icemen as a part of Ziff Law Firm's Veterans' Day Tribute Ceremony.
WHO: Elmira Jackals - Buffalo/NHL & Rochester/AHL (5-3-2) vs. Evansville Icemen - Ottawa/NHL & Binghamton/AHL (4-3-1)
WHAT: Jackals Home Game #6. Former bench boss Dwight Mullins makes his return to First Arena for the first time with his new squad. The Jackals are also participating in Movember and will grow mustaches throughout the month of November to raise funds for men's health issues.
WHEN: 7:15 p.m EST
WHERE: First Arena - 155 N. Main St. Elmira, NY 14901
The Jackals return home to take on former bench boss Dwight Mullins and the Evansville Icemen for the second of six meetings this season and first of four at First Arena. These two foes will become very familiar this month as five of the six meetings this season occur in November. Elmira and Evansville faced off at 9:30 a.m. CST last Wednesday at the Ford Center as a part of Education Day in Evansville. The Jackals fought through adversity on the road to defeat the Icemen 3-2 and hand them their first regulation loss. Former Icemen Mike Seidel exacted revenge against his old squad by scoring the game-winning-goal in the second period. Brayden Irwin and Allan McPherson also scored for the Jackals.
The Jackals are 8-1-1 all-time against Evansville since the Icemen joined the ECHL in the 2012-13 season. Elmira holds a 3-1-1 advantage all-time against Evansville at First Arena.
Steven Shamanski is currently riding a three-game point streak (1G, 3A). The rookie blueliner leads Jackals defensemen with seven points and is tied for second among ECHL blueliners with five power-play points. He is also tied for second amongst rookie defensemen with four power-play assists and ranks second with five power-play points.
