Countdown to Face-Off: Kalamazoo Wings vs Reading Royals

The North Division will square off against the East Division tonight as the Kalamazoo Wings host the Reading Royals. This evening is the first of two straight games between the teams and the first of four overall matchups this season.

Tonight is game four of a season-long five-game home stand for Kalamazoo. The K-Wings, who are 2-1-0-0 during the stretch, suffered their first regulation home defeat of the season on Wednesday with a 4-0 setback to the Fort Wayne Komets.

The Royals travel to Wings Stadium looking to snap a three-game losing streak. This evening is the first game of a four-game road trip for Reading. On the season, the Royals are 1-2-0-0 away from the Santander Arena.

Blain heads to Utica

Earlier today defenseman Jeremie Blain was reassigned to the AHL's Utica Comets. Blain is the sixth member of the K-Wings this season and third this week to be recalled to the AHL.

Held Scoreless

Wednesday the K-Wings lost 4-0 to the Fort Wayne Komets. The game marked the ninth time that the K-Wings have been shutout in their ECHL history (2009-present) and the 99th time overall (1974-present; includes the IHL, UHL, ECHL).

Defensive Battle

Last Saturday's 2-1 victory over the Elmira Jackals marked the first time this season the K-Wings have won a game when scoring two or fewer goals. On the season Kalamazoo is 1-2-0-0 when scoring under three goals.

Snapping a Streak

Kalamazoo enters tonight looking to snap a streak. Dating back to last season, the K-Wings have lost their last three meetings against the Royals.
