Mallards Fall to Beast 2-1 in Overtime

BRAMPTON, Ont. (November 14, 2014) - Chad Painchaud scored just 21 seconds into overtime and Trevor Cann made 48 saves as the host Brampton Beast (2-5-1) defeated the Quad City Mallards (4-3-2) 2-1 Friday night. The Mallards earned one point for the sudden death loss.

Painchaud converted a give-and-go with Elgin Rose to deliver the winning goal.

Cann made 18 saves in the third period to push the game to overtime.

Cann kept the Mallards off the scoreboard for the final 54:15 after Justin Fox pounced on a loose puck in the slot to give Quad City a 1-0 lead at 6:06 of the first period.

The Beast evened the score at one when Tyson Fawcett finished off a 3-on-2 rush from the slot at 14:49 of the second period.

The Mallards and Beast meet again Sunday in Brampton. The Mallards next play at home next next Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. against the Tulsa Oilers. Fans can purchase four tickets to any Mallards Wednesday home game for just $20. In addition, after each Wednesday home contest, fans can join the Mallards at T.G.I. Friday's on River Drive in Moline- adjacent to the iWireless Center- for a postgame party.
